About Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services, Inc.:
Smithsburg EMS's response area covers approximately 70 square miles in Washington and Frederick counties. We provide BLS and ALS service to numerous surrounding areas including Smithsburg, Leitersburg, Cascade, Pen Mar, Ringgold, Cavetown, Wolfsville, and Mt. Aetna. Our response area is very unique and holds various challenges to today's fire and EMS world. In addition to the varying geographical terrain, farms, railroads, industrial businesses, manufacturing companies, housing developments, and a recreational hang gliding spot make our response area different from other companies. Smithsburg has been the fastest growing community in Washington County for the last several years. Responding to nearly 1,200 calls a year, our department and community has undergone extreme growth within the past decade.
